Well, Lipstick Jungle is getting canned.  To no one’s surprise.  May the curse of you canceling Studio 60 stay with you for years, NBC!  (Unless, of course, you would like to make Vlad into a Saturday morning cartoon or possibly a movie or mini-series?  Call me, we’ll talk.)

I saw on Hijinks Ensue that they were talking about some Sci-Fi show or another that they liked  and how it got dumped on the Friday night TV-show death spot.

Why do they bother having TV-shows on Friday night?    Let’s go back to test patterns.  Or just a still image of a fat guy on a couch with a remote, and a surtitle which says “Look familiar?  Go for a walk.  There’s nothing on here worth watching.”

Of course, that could be said for the majority of TV these days.  I think the only shows I really watch anymore are The Daily Show/Colbert Report and the Office.  I’ve given up on The Simpsons ages ago, have never found South Park funny, and, of course, for fear of being shamed, have no interest in Grey’s Anatomy or Desperate Housewives.  Though I think that Mike needs to get back with Lois (I forget her character’s name), and I also think that Meredith is the worst character on that show and they need to can her, and rename that bad boy after whatever character Sandra Oh plays. (OK, so maybe I watched those series a little, but they were better a couple of years ago).  And I think I only like her character because I’m reminded that she was in Sideways, with Paul Giamotti.  Ah, now that was a good movie.

And Keith Olbermann.  I like watching him.   Very entertaining.  And Rachel Maddow.  Ah, good times, good times.

But other than those six-ten shows I mentioned, nothing worth watching.  Don’t even know why I have a TV.

Anyway, goodbye Lipstick Jungle.  We hardly knew you.

I may regret canceling cable after all.

Seriously, the worst single episode of television I’ve probably ever seen.  What you basically have is a TV show which was winking the whole time that, while crazy things were going on, they’d be explained in rational terms.  And then two episodes ago, there was Magic Light.  This is beyond inane.

I’m off to troll the comments on the AV Club, where they usually have a much better mix of snark and witticism than I can provide by myself.

But, seriously, if you’ve never seen Lost, I’d say, don’t bother.
