Signs You Are Losing the Argument

* You quit arguing and compare your opponent to the Nazis.  See Godwin’s law; also Reductio ad Hitlerum.

* You quit trying to make your point and attack your opponent’s biography. See any and all politicians ever.

* You cry fowl and blame the media for taking sides.  The media, already scared of being labeled unfair, takes it easy on you  See John McCain.

* You claim a special form of knowledge that the other person couldn’t possibly hope to attain.  See any and every religion ever.

New Xeno Philosophy Comic: Pascal’s Wager

There’s a new Xeno comic up today.  It’s about Pascal’s Wager.

Pascal’s Wager is a classic argument for faith, but is more or less delivered tongue-in-cheek.  It argues that one should go ahead and have faith because if one is right and God exists, one is rewarded and if one is wrong and God doesn’t exist, one doesn’t lose anything.  Easily debunked on a couple of levels, but presented for you here in a reductio ad absurdum fashion.

Anyway, that’s Thursday’s Xeno comic.  We should have a new one next Tuesday.  We’ll see how long we can keep up this Tuesday/Thursday Xeno comic thing.

Your regular Vlad M/W/F will continue uninterrupted.  Have faith, the weekend’s almost here.

A Very Persuasive Argument

This woman’s argument is very persuasive.  I should avoid religion entirely.

Though, to be fair, mad props to her for bringing the crazy (and the bigotry).  I forget, what does the Bible say about judging?  “Judge not lest ye be…”  hmm… I forget.  Oh well.  Here’s the video.

I guess these are the people that will be cancelling out my vote in two weeks.  Thanks, electoral college system!

New Xeno Comic: Jesus Endorses!

Today’s Xeno comic is based on a true story.  It’s called Jesus Endorses.

It’s a verbatim transcript of a conversation Jesus and I had about the US election.

Did you hear that Sarah Palin said the election is in God’s hands now?

Foolish Sarah, I guess she doesn’t know that His noodly appendages don’t have hands.

Thrilling conclusion to Hell Jones week tomorrow.
