I think Modern Art and I parted ways when they stopped painting pictures of melting clocks. Man, those were the days.

Just found this one today, and I have been steadily working my way through the months of archived strips. Monster Commute is a cute and simple little strip that updates week daily (that’s Monday through Friday).
The premise appears to be that Hell is traffic, and your morning commute is your own personal Hell. Having worked from home for the last half of a year, I can say with all certainty that this premise is correct. Anyway, Machine and Beastio are trapped in the car together on their way to work, for what appears to be eternity. Its fun. The writing is super awesome, and I’m LOL’ing at every strip, but I am certainly amused. The art is drop dead gorgeous, and I am fully envious. I wouldn’t want to abstract the Vlad cast quite as much as they have here, but the colors/textures are exactly what I am trying to learn to do.
I give Monster Commute two thumbs horns up, and suggest you give it a read.
This was too cool for me to not share. Kind of a shame that the art was destroyed at each step, but still amazing.
Just saw that Estragon had added a little dig at Impressionism in Monday’s comic.
I feel it’s my duty to come to Impressionism’s defence. Impressionism rocks. Look at this blur from Monet:

Now compare this to Picasso’s “The Guitarist”:

Looks like a bunch of lines to me. Am I right? Do you even see a guitar or a person there?
At least Monet’s vaguely looks like a building.
Oh, wait, damn. Just saw the guitar.
Little known fact, websites take money to run. So far Vlad has been a big fat net loss for me, which I don’t actually mind; however my financial situation has changed for at least the next year. I don’t want to ask for donations, but I was thinking of opening an Etsy.com shop to sell some hand crafted art that is Vlad related. Would anyone be interested in this? Any suggestions on what you would like to see?
I have made some limited edition block cuts, mostly just for fun, but I was thinking it might be a start.
