I was driving the other day, doing some chores, and saw a beat-up car in front of me that had a Black Flag sticker on it. You know, Black Flag, the 80s punk band. (I was never into them; I always preferred Dead Kennedys.) Anyway, so I see this Black Flag sticker and I think, “Crazy. Why is it that punks always seem to have crappy cars?”
Then, shocking me to my core, next to it, I noticed a bumper sticker which read “Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.” Guffaw? But–Black Flag. How can– But no, dear reader, that was not all. Beside the Drill Here was a sticker that read “Pro-Life Voter for McCain”, above that, “I’ve Always Been Proud to Be American”, and to the left of that “Vote McCain-Palin on Nov. 4″.
Which all leads me to this question. What’s up with the Black Flag sticker? Maybe I don’t know enough about Black Flag, but I wouldn’t think that an anti-authoritarian punk band would fall in agreement with Republican talking points.
From a future Black Flag Reunion Tour….
“We just want to say–Question Authority!”
Whooo!!
Hell yeah!
“Also, an increase in the tax rate for the richest one percent of the country from 36% to 39% is socialism!”
Huh?
“Life begins at conception. Praise Jesus. Praise him. Praise him or we will not rock you tonight.”
Uhm. Black Flag seems to have taken a turn for the odd.
