Crises Within 6 Months of Taking Office

This has been bothering me all day, as it seems to be a stupid thing to say that a President won’t face crises within the first six months of office, i.e. be tested, or to say that anyone could possibly be prepared for the crises that will develop.  I think most of it has to do with how you handle yourself in difficult situations and exercising good judgment.  But hey, what do I know?

Now, I’m no historian by any stretch of the imagination, but here are some crises that the last four presidents have faced within the first six months of their administrations:

Ronald Reagan - 1981- March 30th - Reagan shot in chest outside of Washington hotel

George HW Bush - 1989 - May-June - Tiananmen Square protests

Bill Clinton - 1993 - February 26 - First WTC bombing

George W Bush - 2001 - April 1st - US spy plane downed over China

Anyway, we’re almost down to single digits here, and then you will stop hearing me complain about this.  And you will start seeing me drool over the prospect of the new James Bond movie.  It looks awesome.
